now ... all the men are from chicago there are several charges against them the attack happened at north clark and cornelia and after 1:00 sunday morning ... a limousine pulled up for men jumped out and started punching people on the street ... there were some injuries ... one man suffered a broken jaw other victims were hit in the head and chest but refuse medical treatment ... witnesses pointed out some attackers ... others took off people who live and work in this area noticed an increase in crime in the last year ... a man working at a club near the intersection remember seeing the limousine across the street ... >>we have occasional fights but nothing like this mob action people were everywhere running women were hollering that was it

the us coast guard and other agencies are out again... searching in lake michigan off northwest indiana. they're looking for a 15year-old boy who disappeared while swimming with friends. wgn's tonya francisco has the latest on the search. the search resumed after 7:00 this morning with sonar technology at the bottom of lake michigan ... we have learned more about the victim ... the 15 year-old was from portage indiana he was to be a freshman in the fall he is one of four children ... his mother christine is here watching the recovery operation but her fiancee said that she's not handling things well he came out and made a statement ... >>this is not something you want to deal with ... not the kind of call that you want to get ... hopefully nobody has to deal with this ... it is not fun ...

a texas law that requires voters to produce a government-issued photo is the focus of court case in washington dc this week. the state of texas claims the law will prevent voter fraud and is seeking to persuade a three- judge panel to uphold the statute. but the justice department and other groups say the law disproportionately affects minority voters, and they want it thrown out. the case will be a test of the voting rights act, passed in 1965, which was designed to protect minorities' rights to vote. six u-s soldiers were killed in a roadside blast yesterday in eastern afghanistan.

officials said the troops were killed by an improvised explosive device. the identities of the soldiers have not been released. those six americans were among at least *eight* international soldiers killed in afghanistan over the weekend. a power struggle is brewing in egypt... between the newly elected president, and the military. yesterday, president mohamed morsy called for parliament to go back into session tomorrow. that decision goes directly against a ruling by the country's supreme court, which allowed the military to take charge after the ouster of president hosni mubarak 16 months ago. restoring parliament would take power away from the generals. just hours ago, egypt's high court said it decision was final and binding. u.n. special envoy kofi annan met with syrian president bashar al assad. it was their first meeting since last may, and the collapse of a peace plan. . annan said he had a positive and constructive discussion with president assad. he said they agreed to a plan to end the violence, which annan will share with the opposition. within hours of his meeting with assad, annan was on his way to iran... syria's main ally in the region. lance armstrong is filing a lawsuit against the u-s anti- doping agency in response to charges that he used performance-enhancing drugs. armstrong's lawsuit says the usada rules violate an athlete's constitutional right to a fair

trial. it also accuses the agency's chief executive of having a personal vendetta against the cyclist. armstrong insists he is innocent. if found guilty by the usada.. he could be stripped of his seven tour de france titles. three men were gored by a bull today in the annual running of the bulls in pamplona, spain. one american and two brits were caught by the bull just as the thousands of runners were entering the city's bull ring. they all suffered wounds in the leg... none of them serious. this was day three of the san fermin festival which runs through saturday. a chinese tightrope walker survived a fall from the high wire 650 feet above a gorge. the daredevil was walking backwards, blindfolded and without a harness yesterday above the gorge in china's hunan province.. with only a pole to help him keep his balance. news reports say he felt faint and was thrown off by the wind.. falling to the ground as he attempted to walk nearly 23 hundred feet. moments later, he walked out of

incredibly dry right now with no major relief on the way ... we had 100 degrees for the first time on july 4th the last 12 days consecutive lease actually 16 days have been above average 12 of the last 14 had temperatures over 90 degrees in that. there were four above 100 degrees ... the western suburbs were very hot as well ... finally relief yesterday 85 degrees. we were 12.8 degrees above average ... breaking all records. pretty amazing.

some warm wind is coming down from canada and sharing in that dry air ... the cooler air is now coming into the northeast corner of this country ... the warm air down will be expanded into next week we will see that happening this weekend ... we're looking at that canadian high pressure system cutting into the heat wave that's giving us a comfortable few days. it will still be warm with moderate humid conditions.

in medical watch.. a new weapon in the battle against influenza. the flu virus normally keeps the body's immune system from detecting it.. giving it a few days to gain a foothold. now, researchers report they've found a *synthetic protein* can kick start the immune system so it reacts almost immediately to all strains of the virus.

so far, the e-p-67 protein has only been tested in lab animals. but the researchers say it has the potential to be used by anyone who's been exposed to the flu or other infectious illnesses.. to help fight it off before they get sick. cambodian health officials investigating an unexplained disease outbreak that's killed at least 52 young children have detected the presence of the virus that causes hand, foot and mouth disease. it's a common infectious illness among infants and children. the symptoms typically include fever, painful mouth sores and skin rash. health officials emphasize the investigation is ongoing and that other illnesses.. including dengue fever and streptococcus.. are also associated with some of the cases. families with furry friends could help keep kids healthier. according to a new study in finland.. babies that grew up with cats or dogs had fewer ear infections and respiratory problems. researchers followed 400 children from birth to their first birthday. they found animal interaction helps a baby's immune system to

we are making chocolate chip cookies and ice cream and incorporating fruit... we are making a blueberry chocolate chip cookie with ice- cream we are doing a lot of prep ... we are chopping the butter and setting aside the eggs ... you are going to mix the dry ingredients ... on bleached regular white flour and some cake spice baking soda baking powder and salt. these are the key ingredient to any cookie ... you are chopping the butter into
